When going through the normal steps of adding events for 2016, after trying to save the event, it only saves as the same date/time event in 2015.
Also, when users register for the events now, the person designated for as the contact for the event no longer receives an email notification of the registration and the person registering also does not receive a notification that they registered. They are taken to Paypal to make their payment and if we go into the event, we can see their registration information.
