Submit button of newsletter submit form not working anymore

Hi Franky, I am not exactly sure it this is a bug or a malconfiguration on my site, but i checked this with two different and independent installations.
Simply nothing happens if i hit the submit button of the eme_subform using the #_SUBMIT{} placeholder. And i am quite sure it worked before, but was not testing this for three weeks or so (probably one or two updates ago).

Your theme is generating javascript errors when clicking on the submit button. There’s an open ticket at wordpress for this: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/45903
At the bottom there’s someone who suggests a possible solution, but I recommend to not use twentynineteen 🙂

Hi Franky, again thanks a lot for your very quick answer. I got the point – and also learned to have a look at the console in the dev-tools of FF. But i changed the the theme on my sandbox above to twentytwentyone and feel the same behavior. Also it was working 4 weeks ago with twentynineteen. I also have the same behavior with our development site, where we use the Astra theme.

Unfortunately i still have some difficulties to debug/analyze the output of the console :-/

Humm … weird .. let me test it here too (was still at work) and see if there’s maybe a bug in the code there.

Ok, I found the problem: the form begin/end tags are not being added, causing this to fail. Let me try and reproduce it here.
