It is smaller because the css tells the balloon text size to be at 85%, because I want to avoid scrollbars and google api v3 is quite tricky with those. I deleted and reinstalled the plugin and the text showed up fine. When I went to the dbem_locations.php file in the plugin editor to make the text black and enlarge the map to 670px width, it resulted in the messed up formatting.
